Rummy Won't Do It, So The Short-Timer Did
Rumsfeld doesn't dare say it, so Myers will. General Myers, who is retiring in a few months, recently told the truth about how being stuck in the Iraq quagmire has made it impossible for us to even think of trying to go after North Korea, Syria, Iran, Venezuela or any of the other countries on the Bush/PNAC wish list. Hell, those of us in the reality-based community knew that two years ago. The one silver lining in the horrible mess that is Iraq is that Bush hasn't been able to send troops into Venezuela. But the flip side is that, now that Bush's policies have riled up North Korea, Iran, Syria, etc., so that they are now threats, we can't do anything about them except shake our fingers sternly.
