Good News From The UK, Crazy News From Steve Forbes

Well, well. Looks like Tony Blair's pulled his spine, brain, and maybe even his atrophied ethical faculties out from the back of his sock drawer and strapped 'em on:

TONY Blair has told George Bush that Britain cannot offer military support to any strike on Iran, regardless of whether the move wins the backing of the international community, government sources claimed yesterday. Amid increasing tension over Tehran's attempts to develop a military nuclear capacity, the Prime Minister has laid bare the limits of his support for President Bush, who is believed to be considering an assault on Iran, Foreign Office sources revealed. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is calling on the United Nations to consider new sanctions against Tehran when the Security Council meets next week to discuss the developing crisis. Blair is expected to support the call for a "Chapter 7" resolution, which could effectively isolate Iran from the international community. But, in the midst of international opposition to a pre-emptive strike on Tehran, and Britain's military commitments around the world, the government maintains it cannot contribute to a military assault. "We will support the diplomatic moves, at best," a Foreign Office source told Scotland on Sunday. "But we cannot commit our own resources to a military strike."
Thanks go to Uncommon Sense for the link. Meanwhile, trust-fund baby Steve Forbes is showing once again the wondrous mental acumen that caused him to burn through a few million of his late dad's money in a doomed presidential run:
FORBES: Well, it’s interesting. And about $15 a barrel on the price of oil today is worry about Iran, that crisis. HOST: So, without Iran, the price of oil would be $15 less per barrel is what you’re saying. FORBES: Yes, it would. There is real uncertainty, huge producer. But the bottom line with Iran is, when we have the confrontation, which we will have, we can really deal with that crisis. Then the price of oil will come down. The longer we let it fester, the higher the price of oil will stay.
Uh, Steve? We bomb Iran, they (or maybe even we) take out the Straits of Hormuz. Take some time to Google "Iran" and "Hormuz" to see why this is Not A Good Idea. Thanks go again to Uncommon Sense for passing this on.
