How Desperate Are Minnesota Republicans?

Check out their racist efforts to smear Keith Ellison, who is the DFL-endorsed candidate to replace Martin Sabo in Congress. They got nothin', so they fall back on their favorite tactic, the racist smear. UPDATE: Not content with trying to use racist smears to attack Keith Ellison, Cowardly Republicans visit MR and refuse to show their Blogger profiles! Even better!

Comments:
Racist smear? Hah!

Sorry, but Ellison has plenty of rhetorical baggage from the Soliah case, to his Nation of Islam days, to the Castro rhetoric. This is going to be real interesting when his fellow DFLers run in the primary against him to see what they say about him. (Oh- you thought that party endorsement was going to stop them?)

Love your definition of "baggage", Marty. If guilt-by-association's your standard, then you won't mind my bringing up the longstanding financial and other ties that convicted felon Sun Myung Moon has to the Republican Party. (You remember the Moonies? Reader's Digest used to have articles on their slimy activities all the time in the 1970s. Then Moon started up his media empire and cuddled up to the GOP -- and suddenly those articles stopped being published. Amazing how that works!)

Oh, and nice hiding of your Blogger profile. So brave of you! (When are you enlisting for Iraq, by the way?)

Oh, nice to see you like to view Crooks and Liars as much as I do. Gotta keep tabs on your GOP buddies, y'know!

Give him points for having a handle, PW. Most Repubs won't even do that.

Tell me, Marty, does George Bush have "rhetorical baggage" for starting his campaign at Bob Jones University? Most Americans regard what they believe as pretty extreme.

Similarly, how about the association between Sun Myung Moon and the Bush family that PW mentions? The Moon empire is anti-Christian (Moon says that he was sent by God because Jesus blew it), and is widely believed to be funded largely through criminal activities like drugs and extortion. Moon himself is a convicted felon. Yet Poppy Bush has taken hundreds of thousands in speaker fees, and the Bush and Moon families are very friendly.

The connections in both cases are a lot closer than between Ellison and Zarqawi. Like microns vs. kilometers.

Doesn't it bother you to have such a conspicuous double standard?

Now that's funny. Complaining that I don't show my blogger profile. Uh- Have you looked at your blogger profile lately?

Email address and female. Ooooh.

Here- You want a profile that compares to yours?- Male, martymortgage@yahoo.com. Try not to send too much spam. Heck- I'll even throw in the blogs that I don't spend that much time writing in anyway- YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT, Marty's Big Journey, and The Real Estate Update. They are unrelated sites other than the author and I try to keep them separate- thus the "not sharing the profile" thing. Anything else you want to know?

And who is talking about Guilt by Association? I'm talking about what Ellison has himself said- you know- the words that have come out of his mouth and from his pen. If you and Charles want to change the subject to George Bush so you don't have to deal with that, hey- it's your site.

I'm just telling you- watch the Democratic primary for that Congressional District. It is sure to be very interesting to see if and how Mike Erlandson and Ember Junge deal with Ellison's past as they try to push forward their own election hopes. Of course, that could be a risky endeavor for both of them in that district, but we'll see.

Gee, I must have struck a sore spot. All that verbiage, much of it groundless variations on "Ellison's evil because I, Marty, reciting from GOP blogger script, say he is!"

So you're saying that it's OK to lump in Ellison with Zarqawi? How ethical of you.

Please point out exactly what it is about Ellison that you find so offensive (besides his color and religion). Please also explain how "bad" you think he can be, if he's managed to serve with distinction in the Minnesota Legislature for many years. And if you can, please do so without resorting to PowerLineBlog boilerplate or RNC blast-faxes. Thanks!

Oh, and Marty was too cowardly to address Charles' post, I'm going to post it right back at him:

Well, Marty? Doesn't it?
