Welcome StarTribune Readers!

Sorry I'm late -- was out enjoying what turned out to be lovely weather after all. So I didn't find out until a little while ago about the mention I got from Tim O'Brien in the Strib today. Too bad that O'Brien only picked up on the least important of my Ellison posts. For some odd reason, O'Brien chose to ignore my more important Ellison postings, such as: -- The fact that Ellison's mosque, Masjid An-Nur (which does lots of outreach and charity work with Jewish and Christian groups) has nothing to do with Farrakhan's Nation of Islam outfit. -- Or that Daniel Rosen, the guy the media always (and only) goes to for an anti-Ellison soundbite from a "non-partisan" Jew, is a major GOP donor. (He's done some Democratic donations in the past, but not in the last three years and nowhere near as much as what he's given to Republicans like Mark Kennedy and Michelle Bachmann; look for the 55402 zip code and anything with "Rosen and Rosen" or Minnetonka on it.) -- Or that none of Ellison's chief attackers and slimers in the blogosphere, namely the GOP-oriented blokes at Power Line and Republican activist Michael Brodkorb of "Minnesota Democrats Exposed", have taken the Bush-friendly Joe Lieberman to task for cuddling up to Farrakhan in 2000 -- a time long after the end of Ellison's breaking off any and all ties to Farrakhan. By the way: If helping to organize the Million Man March in the mid-'90s makes one a "Nation of Islam member", there are a lot of black people out there who are going to be very surprised to find out they aren't really Baptists or Methodists after all.

Comments:
O'Brien did you a kindness...kind of. Your least "important" post is most probably least embarassing post.

But read in context, the link to your site actually acknowledges that you are jubliant about the elevation of a racist, anti-Semite.

If anyone takes the time to check it out for themselves, they'll know that anyway.

Swiftee, what they'll discover is that you deny that David Duke is a "white supremecist" (sic), that you link to crackpot sites like Accuracy in Media to make a point, and that you think that a murder committed by one person means that an entire organization should be branded as criminals.

And all this before they discover that you're a complete idiot who can't even tell the difference between the Nation of Islam and a completely unrelated Muslim sect.

Catch "Swiftee" turning into David Duke's biggest booster, right here. That was so outrageous, David Neiwert -- America's foremost researcher of racist and hate groups -- showed up to smack Swiftee around over it.

Oh, and by the way: Right-wing white-power groups love to use the word "nationalist" to describe themselves, as a visit to http://www.nationalist.org will show.

Neiwert said: "Funny thing: Ellison has specifically denounced Farrakhan and his organization."

I'd LOVE to see that quote Neiwert. Ellison has tapped danced all around this issue, but I've never seen him specifically denounce the NOI or FarraKKKhan.

You post that and I'll back off on the NOI issue....fair?

"He's been endorsed by local Jewish organizations in Minneapolis."

Right...LOL, kind of. One Secular, left-wing organization that puts their Jewish identity up for sale has said they endorse Ellison.

Is there 1, just 1 non-political Jewish organization that has followed?

One synagogue perhaps?

Pffft, of course not.

"I don't think that's gonna happen unless he's being sincere."

Like I say, the Jewish "organization" you speak of uses it's Jewish identity as a ploitical tool...you make a mockery of your own argument.

By highlighting the obvious, you've yet again exposed the fraud that is Ellison's platform.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, I think I've shredded your amphigory before haven't I Mr. Neiwert?

Sure I have.

here ya go swiftee:

From the Washington Post:

" [Ellison]repudiated Farrakhan in a May 28 letter to the Jewish Community Relations Council in Minneapolis."

so you gonna stick to your word and back off?

You won't mind posting the link will you...anonymous guy???

I've seen Ellison tap dance; like I've said. A repudiation is a straight forward deal.

I say what I mean, and I always stick to my word slick.

Just like to read it for myself...not that I don't trust people who are afraid to identify themselves or anything.

Swiftee asks about endorsements: "Is there 1, just 1 non-political Jewish organization that has followed?"

American Jewish World, the newspaper for the MN Jewish community endorsed Ellison.

WaPO link: http://tinyurl.com/gbdm9

1st page, second to last paragraph.

learn how to google. that's how I found it. It's not the only place that referenced the letter either. Here's another: http://tinyurl.com/fc9x3 that also includes info about the newspaper endorsement.

Anonymous. Right. Your legal name is swiftee then eh?

oh and swiftee, take a look at the City Pages cover story link embedded in the MN Monitor tiny url link(fc9x3) I provided. It's an interesting read.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Swiftee to acknowledge an error, Anon.

It could lead to asphyxiation. I've been waiting for over a week for this clown to admit that he cannot read a graph (details for the curious of which are here.)

The guy doesn't seem to realize that the reason he is persona non grata has nothing to do with his politics. It has to do with his lying, his arrogance, his hateful attitude... his complete contempt for the basic things required for civilization.

Of course, those do have a lot to do with his politics.

Charles, this is as close as he'll ever get: "A repudiation is a straight forward deal. I say what I mean, and I always stick to my word slick."

If he ever brings it up in any post again then he admits he's a liar.

Anonymous, thanks for the legwork in dealing with Swiftee. He seems to be of that branch of the GOP that believes that the person who shouts the loudest for the longest wins the argument.

I've warned him repeatedly that I've been showing his comments (and those of other Republican commenters) to people so they can see what a typical member of the Republican base acts like, yet he just doesn't realize that he's not doing himself or his cause any favors at all.

If this were thirty or even twenty years ago, a fellow Republican would have sat down with Swiftee to explain to him just why he's not doing all that well. But apparently he's too piddly for the local GOP to worry about, or their own faculties have been impaired through 24/7 imbibing of their own propaganda. Or, as is very likely given their crazed reaction to the presence of Keith Ellison in the 5th CD race, both.

As I've said before, if the Minnesota GOPers really thought that Ellison was a vulnerable candidate, they wouldn't have said diddly about him until AFTER he'd won the primary last week. But in fact, they've been after him since he won the DFL endorsement six months ago. They all but ignored Erlandson, Reichgott Junge and Ostrow (well, they did listen to Ostrow's campaign manager, but that was only because he was funneling them anti-Ellison smear oppo), and instead went after Ellison with an insane intensity. Crazy, simply crazy.

Oh, and Anonymous: Thanks for pointing Swiftee and everyone else to Britt Robson's excellent City Pages story on Ellison, but it won't do any good. I've linked to that story before and the information in it just bounces right off Swiftee's head.

PW: it's always a pleasure to hoist them on their own petard. heh.

Anon, I have to agree that SwiftFlee has quite a "word slick."

And thanks for the links. Even if the abovementioned character refuses to read and refuses to understand, I did read and did understand.

I am proud of the Jewish community for having taken a step of brotherhood to meet Ellison's.

Right.

He doesn't lie except when he posts false and/or defamatory material and refuses to correct himself.

Which is to say that he is lying when he says he doesn't lie, and is d--n proud of it, too.

See, here's why you can't just take Hakim or his sycophant's word for anything:

"reception in the Jewish community has been mixed, said Julie Swiler, public affairs director for the Minneapolis-based Jewish Community Relations Council."

"When he explained his past in a letter to that organization, some accepted the explanation and others rejected it."

http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/duluthsuperior/news/politics/15511611.htm

Now, if this "repudiation" was in fact a repudiation...as in somthing along the lines of "I reject Louis FarraKKKhan, the Nation of Islam and every thing they stand for" I cannot see how anyone could reject that.

More likely, this alleged "repudiation" was nothing more than another of Keith X's tap dances.

I haven't been able to find this letter, or any excerpts anywhere..but as I said, we'll see on Thursday.

Here's the link to Ellison's little speech.

Swiftee: you've just admitted you're a liar.

The mark of a liar is going back to qualify the original statement after being proven wrong.

Now you add that every Jewish person was supposed to accept Ellison's statement for you to back off. Quite a little tap dance of your own that you're doing son.

So you need to personalize your attacks instead of just responding to what's posted eh? My words stand on their own merit.

Here's Swiftee's reasoning:

1. A Jewish leader says that the Nation of Islam is anti-Semitic.
2. Ellison said, accurately, that the Symbionese Liberation Army demanded the feeding of the poor.
3. Profit!

It's just an amazing proof that people with no reasoning skills at all can use a computer.

Did Silberfarb actually say that Ellison was bad?

No.

He was quoted that the Nation of Islam is anti-Semitic.

But everyone agrees with that statement.

What Silberfarb was not quoted as saying is that Ellison is in any way associated with the Nation of Islam.

Because, um, he isn't.

As for Sara Jane Olson (Kathleen Soliah), here is the key excerpt of what Ellison said:

I mean I'm not trying to say the SLA is - I don't even know enough about the SLA to tell you about the SLA, but I can tell you what they stated what they were in FAVOR OF: it had to do with fighting poverty and fighting racism and stuff like that. I'm not even here to tell you how they did it because I don't know.

Ellison probably didn't even know that there is no connection between the SLA and the Nation of Islam. None whatsoever.

And clearly neither did Swiftee.

But our resident troll had to put out something after making so much noise and being shot down again and again.

And again.

But again, the "something" is nothing.

So, Swiftee, are you or are you not a white supremacist? You sure are starting to smell like one.

Charles: he's hedging his bets. Logic means nothing to those with an agenda.

You're spot on about what Silberfarb actually said and pointing to the leap of logic the swiftee makes. After reading his posts on other subjects his leaps of logic are legendary.

Sure swiftee can find Jews who don't accept Ellison's repudiation. Just as there are Jews who do. That means exactly bupkis to his original statement.

He boxed himself into that corner. I just closed the lid.

I visited just to see this in action. You're quite right.

And this is why our political dialogue has gone completely rabid over the last twenty years. Most of the Republican political apparatus, aided and abetted by shallow, greedy news execs, has been taken over by snarling tantrum-throwers like Swiftee.

Check the political strategy comments of Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich, Grover Norquist, etc. This is their world, they lilke it this way, and the rest of us are stuck trying to deal with them.

Tom J. "Swiftee" Swift, in addition to having been caught lying in this thread (and also here and here) on MR, is such a failure politically that he can't even get himself endorsed as a Republican candidate for the St. Paul school board (he managed to con the local GOPers once, but they've apparently wised up and won't be endorsing him for anything ever again).

Keith Ellison's been a respected state legislator for many years and made a legal career out of defending liberal civil rights activists against Nazis, white supremacists, and other conservatives.

I know who I'd rather trust.

Exactly.

The good thing is that people are starting to realize just what a mess the snarling tantrum-throwers have made of things. Far from being the mature, fiscally-responsible, sober citizens they claim to be when selling themselves to the general public, they are in fact rabid, incompetent nutters and ideological hacks who lack even the basic competence needed for successful corruption.

Marty: MN Monitor said the AJW endorsement could be a "pivotal" endorsement, it has a circulation of 5,000 with most living in the 5th district. It's like any other endorsement, it makes a difference to some and not to others.

Why so apoplectic about it? I read all the posts on the link you provided. You posted the same on MDE, on the City Pages blog and now here.

It's clear, you disagree with the endorsement. But the fact is, Ellison got it and it may have made a difference to some who voted in the primary.

Ahh, I see my last comment should have been directed to the swiftee after all. By cutting and pasting from something that someone has said on two different blogs it looks like it is he who is apoplectic that the endorsement may have helped Ellison in the primary. But the swiftee has already made that apparent by his increasingly incoherent postings.

You know. I think I'm starting to see a pattern here.

You morons cannot keep the amphigory straight in your heads long enough to spew it out!

" he can't even get himself endorsed as a Republican candidate for the St. Paul school board (he managed to con the local GOPers once, but they've apparently wised up and won't be endorsing him for anything ever again)"

I "conned" the local GOP into what?

You mean their endorsement of my candidacy?

But you say I failed to get that endorsement.

Pfft...take a pill honey, and maybe after a nap you can have another go at it...Haha!

I asked you first, Swiftee. I'm so courteous, I'll let you answer first.

But I do find it interesting that I'm asking you whether you're a white supremacist based on your obsessive attacks on Keith Ellison and your denial that David Duke is a "white supremecist" (sic). I don't see any reason why you would ask me about a crime of sexual assault unless you felt that you'd gotten f---ked.

You haven't, you know. You've just been forced to face the truth. For a Republican, I can see why that might feel like rape.

That post completely debunked the one and only Jewish "group" you managed to come up with as endorsing Ellison hidin' guy.

You want to take a pill and a little nap too, then you can all take another try...Hahahaha!

As that Great American Bugs Bunny would say:

What a maroon!

Since the AJW didn't withdraw the endorsement it changes nothing swiftee.

Face it man, you boxed yourself in with your own righteous stupidity.

And Ellison is still endorsed by AJW, he still won the primary, and he's gonna win in Nov.

And it's just eating your guts out.

Swiftee, regarding your posts in the Ground Game thread, which you have now repeated here:

I'd like to point out that you are, in my lay opinion, approaching libel. A pen name, like Charles Utwater II, is not the same as an anonymous screen name. It's a name I use to write under, and therefore has potential economic value, like a brand name. Libel is a real crime, with potential real consequences. In accord with Terms of Service, Mercury Rising, does not tolerate criminal activity. I rather think Blogger does not either.

I usually give people three warnings before banning them from the forum. You've just used up two. I recommend that you delete the offending posts, although I've saved a copy to disk.

Being proven wrong sends you right over the edge, eh swiftee?

Ellison was endorsed by one guy, Mordecai Spector..why stretch a published and indisputable fact hidin' guy? Your only bullshitting yourself.

As I've said at least ten times, Ellison is most probably going to win.

The voters of Minneapolis have proved themselves quite adept in electing real pieces-or-work, and I have no delusions that they will suddenly have a moment of clarity...how many lefty city councilmen have done time now?

Is it three, or four? Hard to keep track without a scorecard.

Ellison in the US House will be a Godsend to conservative bloggers.

In fact, I'm betting that within the first year of his victory, he'll perpetrate a national scandal.

Great God Almighty!

Pseudo may be the first lefty to visit this site that can actually read and comprehend!

Glad you enjoyed the laugh! We'll call it a fair return for all of the laughs I've gotten here the past couple of days.

Honestly, my sides hurt!

Swiftee, swiftee, swiftee. That "one guy" is the editor of *the* Jewish newspaper with a circulation of 5,000. He obviously has more influence than "one guy" otherwise it wouldn't stick in your craw like it does.

Your bets carry as much credibility as your word. Which is exactly zilch.

Ahh, swiftee. You're so true to form. When you have nothing of substance to say try some lame attack.

Clearly I've gotten under your skin son.

I shouldn't have to remind members of the Blogger Terms of Service which they themselves signed, but evidently I do:

Member agrees not to transmit through the Service any unlawful, harassing, libelous, abusive, threatening, or harmful material of any kind or nature. Member further agrees not to transmit any material that encourages conduct that could constitute a criminal offense, give rise to civil liability or otherwise violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation.

Unfortunately, Swiftee's post in The "Ground Game" crosses well past anything that could be regarded as simply abusive into what is very likely libel. I realize that the lines between the normal exchange of insult in political debate, abuse, and libel may not be clear to some. But when one accuses a person of a felony, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that's way too far. And he has now made it clear that he has no regret for his actions.

A TOS violation has been registered with Blogger. This is the first time this has been required in this forum. We encourage debate, not abuse or libel. The offending posts will be removed in due course and Mr. Swift is instructed not to post on this forum again.

Boxed in by his own words the swiftee completely loses it.

Ahhhhh HAHAHA!

Run away Chuck...flee!

Ah hahahahaaha!

Go ahead and edit away loser, hide your shame. I've got my own copies..

Hahahahaha!

You know perfectly well, Swiftee, that Blogger doesn't permit comments to be "edited". They either are deleted, or they are not.

Charles has reported you to Blogger's TOS team. You would do well to refrain from committing any more TOS violations. You may think that being a Republican gives you a Get Out Of Jail Free card with regard to slander. It does not.

heh. Daffy Duck seems to be more fitting of the swiftees cartoon alter ego. The sputtering is almost audible.

Naah, here's my cartoon alter ego.

Whoa. Pheonix Woman and Charles, I think Swiftee needs to definitely be brought low for this. Public accusations of child molestation on a public forum is definitely a violation of Blogger TOS, and could well be actionable.

Ouch.

Swiftee, instead of just posting links to posts you imply are somehow bad, why don't you quote from them at length to show us the "bad parts"?

None of your current actions are doing anything at all to mitigate your violation of Blogger's TOS -- and of all standards of decent human beings -- when you deliberately, and with malice aforethought, accused Charles of committing serious and shameful crimes.

I've warned you repeatedly that I've been showing your comments to people, and not because I thought that they helped you win friends and influence people. A wiser person than you may have realized that you shouldn't have been providing, in a blog which anyone can read, so much evidence of why you're not winning friends and influencing people. Instead, you totally crossed the line and resorted to a vile, shameful slander.

swiftee: you really should see someone about your anger son.

A Terms of Service Violation has been filed against Mr. Swift with Blogger.

Mr. Swift chose to make a libelous post, repeated the libel in a separate thread, and refused to remove the libelous post.

He is persona non grata on Mercury Rising. Any further posts by him will be treated as harassment, which is also a violation of Terms of Service.
