GOP's Tax Scare Is Losing Its Power

Nathan Newman points out that the GOP's fetish for Grover-Norquist-style "starve the beast" (and keep rich people from paying taxes) referenda ran into a big fat brick wall last week: All their "TABOR" bills fell flat.

Comments:
Colorado is very unhappy with their TABOR bill and Claifornia lost its position as a leader in research and education due to its anti-tax law. Unfortunately, once you pass these kinds of things, you have to have a crisis of major magnitude before you can repeal them. A certain number of people don't care if they drive the rest of the world into the ground just so they can go on paying taxes at Third World rates.
