Supremes to Jeb: Go Pound Salt
The Scalia Court does the right thing for a change. Every doctor that has examined Terri Schiavo, and who wasn't working for her parents, Jeb, or the Fundies and conservabots that have made her their poster child, has said that there's nobody home in her body any more -- and hasn't been since she sustained massive brain damage nearly fifteen years ago. In fact, much of what used to be her cerebrum is now simply liquefied. She has just enough of her lower brain left to keep her heart beating and her lungs working, but that's it. The part of her brain that made her a human being is GONE. Period. Florida's Second District Court of Appeals had this to say back in 2003:
In a June 6 opinion that rouched on the medical evidence in the Schiavo case, the 2nd District Court of Appeal wrote" "Although the physicians were not in complete agreement concerning the extent of the daughter's brain damage, they all agreed that the brain scans showed extensive permanent damage to her brain. They only debate between the doctors was whether she had a small amount of isolated living tissue in her cerebral cortex or whether she had no living tissue in her cerebral cortex."

You know, your comments are really wrongheaded in this case.
If you guys weren't so blinded to the fact of Jeb's involvement and actually look at this no-good s.o.b. husband's likely motives, which DON'T stem from love, then maybe you can look at this thing with a clear head.
The husband is an asshole who wants his wife dead. The parents are willing to care for her. I don't believe ONE WORD this guy says that he's doing what she wished.

Susan, do you have any idea how many judges, doctors, and courts have sided with Michael Schiavo?
Hint: it's a lot more than have sided with the Schindlers. That's why they and their Fundie financiers had to go to Jeb to get him to create a law that was rightly struck down as unconstitutional.
I don't care how many pro-Schindler websites you've visited. Terri is, for all normal intents and purposes, DEAD, and has been since she incurred the brain damage.
As for whether or not Michael Schiavo beat her up and killed her: The Schindlers have made lots of claims on their websites, but there's this little thing called 'lack of evidence'. If there wasn't, they would have long ago filed assault-and-battery charges against their son-in-law. So why didn't they?
If they were willing to admit that Terri is dead, they could try filing wrongful-death (a la OJ) or even murder charges against Michael Schiavo. But they've painted themselves into a corner now: To admit that Terri is dead would mean that the Fundies that are paying their freight would cut off the money that's funding their grudge against their son-in-law. The whole reason all these "please help poor Terri" sites exist is so the Fundies can use her to attack the right-to-die movement.
