Beastly Number Update?
Guess what? According to recent archaeological finds, 616, not 666, is the Number of the Beast. The folks in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area will be interested to know that. References to 616 as the Devil's Number have been found before. Up to now many scholars thought that the 616 instances were merely miscopyings of 666 (or just plain wrong, as Irenaeus thought), but this cite of 616 is the oldest one yet.
