Bush Recess-Appoints Bolton To The UN

What we all expected Bush would do. Bolton's being kicked upstairs. I expect that the US delegation staff have had a few months to figure out ways to work around him. He'll probably actually do less damage here than he did at State. By the way: This is a tacit admission on Bush's part that he couldn't even get most of the Republicans on board for this clown. No GOP Senator up for re-election in 2006 wanted to have a vote for Bolton to explain away at this time next year.

Comments:
I'm an American. I'm also a career UN officer.

To quote a dear friend who is a career State Department diplomat, the thinking around Foggy Bottom is that "... the only thing missing from Bolton is cloven hooves and horns." You have to think, though, that they're breathing a collective sigh of relief that the likes of *me* will have to deal with him now...

The only question remaining is how long before Bolton starts cozying up to wise, UN-reform "experts" like Newt Gingrich.
