Roberts Under Attack -- From The Right

This is why Drudge is working so hard to pimp the Mean NYT Picking On Roberts' Kids story -- he was hoping to keep this from happening:

It's not exactly a sign that the floodgates are opening, but the "family values" outfit called Public Advocate will hold a press conference on the steps of the Supreme Court Wednesday morning to demand that George W. Bush withdraw his nomination of John G. Roberts. The reason? Roberts' pro bono work with gay rights activists in the mid-1990s. "The move comes as a result of Roberts' support for the radical homosexual lobby in the 1996 Supreme Court case Romer v. Evans, which overturned a pro-family law passed by the citizens of Colorado in an appalling act of judicial activism," the organization says in a press release issued today.
Yupper: A group of hardcore Fundies wants Bush to pull his nomination of John Roberts because Roberts did pro bono (that's "free") legal work on behalf of a Colorado gay-rights coalition. As Driftglass is fond of saying, Churchy wanna get paid.
