An Interesting Claim
Steve Gilliard advances the claim that the Beltway Sniper scared the pundits of the DC-New York corridor more than 9/11 did, and since scared people are more easily controlled, that's one reason why the WP and NYT bigwigs were so eager to pimp Bush's war for him -- and to facilitate everything else he did. This makes sense, in a strange kind of way. Though they already were pimping for him and had been for years, this would have reinforced their desire to keep doing so.
