This post intentionally left blank

After Brad DeLong was so kind as to quote me as saying that I was preparing a post detailing the dishonesty contained in Washington Post Executive Editor Brady's complaint about rude posts, I have been embarrassed to find myself procrastinating. It's in progress. I keep hoping and praying that Brady will do something like moon the Pope, simplifying the process of explaining what a twit he is with a visual. Hey, they say God hears all prayers.
Comments:
God answers all prayers, it's just that answer is often, "no".

I don't think there is nearly enough rudeness directed the way of media whores. Considering their role in destroying democracy by making the people head poundingly ignorant there isn't enough bad to say about or to them. They are the enemies of freedom, justice and everything good.

The Rude Pundit is very rude but his most frivolous piece has more truth in it than the entire product of most of the WaPo's stable of kept shills.

Rudeness has its recreational merits, olvlzlm, which I can't find it in myself to disparage.

If the whole conflict between Brady and the bloggers were just over how much money the congressional Dems had taken from sleazebags, or about how many posts contained bad words, I would let the issue lie. If one reads Brady's response carefully, though, it contains something like half a dozen gratuitously odorous statements.

It represents more than a difference of opinion or even a lie. It is highly purified anti-truth.

This is a phenomenon that needs to be documented to create a lasting record of the systematic dishonesty of the political/media leadership of this country. Someday, this all will be over, and we will need to de-Baathify (de-bastidfy?) the US. We will have to do a more selective job of it than the US has done in Iraq.

Thank you, Charles. This crystalizes something I've been trying to put my finger on for a while. Excellent phrase.

lxycbzt, this random character generator throws up one combination after another that I wish I'd chosen instead. Found objects of beauty.

MEC gets the credit for discovering anti-truth.

However, I have discovered a number of quacks, headwrongs, bozos, leperons, and very strange morons.

(particle physics joke)

To quote myself:

"Lie" isn't an adequate word for what Republicans say. We need a new term; I propose anti-truth, as in, "There are lies, damned lies, and Republican anti-truths." Like matter and anti-matter, Republicans and the truth just can't occupy the same space. What they say goes all the way through and past "untrue" into the realm of turning reality inside out, tying a knot in it, and yanking so hard it snaps.
