Charities As Campaign Money Launderers: The GOP's Stock In Trade
Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff are the masters of this -- so much so that Jack Abramoff is staring at a hefty prison term for it -- but Rick Santorum's no slouch at it, either. This is why the Abramoff scandal isn't a lobbyist scandal, but a fake-charity-set-up-as-a-money-laundering-front scandal. But the Republicans and their media apologists want to make sure we don't see it that way.
