Embarrassing
Even Bush's own press secretary won't endorse Bush's stubborn insistence that there's a pony in there somewhere.
The White House took a step back Monday from President Bush's confident assertion two months ago that "absolutely, we're winning" the war in Iraq. [...] Snow, asked Monday if Bush still believes the United States is winning, said, "I think at this point it ceases to be fruitful to jump into this."Snow, in fact, was reduced to babbling incoherence by the challenge of defending the indefensible.
"I'm not playing the game any more," said White House press secretary Tony Snow. "It's one of those things where you end up ... trying to summarize a complex situation with a single word or gerund, and — or even a participle."It's just plain sad when a White House press secretary resorts to naming parts of speech because he's so bad at unscripted lying. It's almost enough to make me miss Ari Fleischer. Ari was slime, but he was competent slime. He could handle the job. Snow is just pathetic. I shouldn't complain about Snow's incompetence, however. The White House correspondents obviously don't respect him, and that means they're less likely to go along with the charade.

Snow started babbling and ended up talking about the unity government and how it had been elected despite the danger people faced in voting.

Every time I've seen Snow give a press briefing, he's babbled and stammered.
Oh, wait.
He's speaking for George W. Bush. Babbling and stammering pretty much describes that message, doesn't it?
