Wheeeee! Yet Another Excuse To Slash Social Programs!
Forget Social Security. Scrap Medicare. Screw Head Start. Kill affirmative action. Want to give your citizens long happy healthy lives just brimming with successes of all kinds? Make 'em all go to college, or so this study trumpeted by the NYT the other day claims. Of course, if they can't afford to go to college, well, that's their problem. (And talk about a self-selecting sample. The parents of college kids are more likely to be wealthy than non-college kids, for one thing.)
