ZDNet has a wonderful exhibit of chip art: tiny images engraved on computer chips.
My favorite was one that engineers engraved on the MicroVax chips, which they thought might be reverse-engineered by the Soviets: "VAX-when you care enough to steal the very best."

This cheetah appeared in a Hewlett-Packard memory controller chip. This art was problematic: The cheetah's aluminum spots flaked off, causing short circuits elsewhere on the chip.
